About us

Pune Architectural History Archive - PAHA is dedicated to documenting and promoting Pune's twentieth-century architectural heritage. We digitize archival materials that record Pune's architectural histories and make them public for research and enjoyment. These endangered materials are sourced from various stakeholders, including building patrons, architects, engineers, and contractors.

The collections contain architectural drawings, photographs, books, reports, interviews and correspondence. It documents the city's movie theatres, educational institutions, housing projects, and more.

Objectives

  • Document Pune's modern architectural heritage both by assembling and digitising physical source materials and collecting memories.
  • Engage diverse audiences in understanding Pune's architectural histories.
  • Increase visibility and awareness of twentieth-century changes in Pune's built environment.
  • Highlight the contributions of local, private actors in the city's creation and transformation.
