#PAHA PEOPLE - UDHHAV MAHADEO APTE This is Uddhav Mahadeo Apte (1913-1977), a key figure in Pune's architectural history. Apte obtained his Government Diploma in Architecture in 1937 from the J.J. School of Art and later co-founded Anand and Apte (also written Anand & Aptay) in Lahore. Notable projects, like Lahore's Ratan movie theater, showcased their success. He returned to his ancestral home in Pune after the Partition and made lasting contributions to the city's architectural landscape, with projects like the Gokhale Institute Library and the Bank of Maharashtra building on Bajirao Road.
